In today's age, so much can be learned independently. Books about industries, blogs detailing careers, interviews (like these) sharing life stories, and courses to develop technical and interpersonal skills. While these are undoubtedly beneficial, there remains one ruler over all other forms of qualification: experience. It is this constant that puts Mac Grove so far above other thirty-somethings in the music industry: an upbringing during which his mother worked hard to ensure he prepared himself for adulthood. A young life with fast introductions to the reality of his situation, a situation that he chose to respond to with hard work and ambition. An adult life of juggling the hats he wears as a father, partner, musician, and manager. These experiences all carved out the expertise that Mac uses to navigate the music industry today, and have proven invaluable in his pursuits.

 

Mac has the earned privilege of having worked with some of New Jersey's most prominent hip hop artists, and has affiliations with nearly all of them. His most recent experience has him working with Fetty Wop, contributing to his postponed tour of ten cities. As a studio owner, he grooms the artists he signs by tying his own success to theirs. By all accounts, Mac is a big mover in the NJ hip hop scene, and believes in the state's talent.

 

But for all of these talking points, perhaps Mac's most impressive trait is his willingness to share advice and guide the youth. From the tactics involved in signing a deal, to "watching the company you keep," it seems Mac Grove is a walking encyclopedia to a game that excels at chewing people up and spitting them back out.
